of <h1>SEBI Regulation 17A caps directorships in listed entities: max 8 (7 by 2020); limits for independent directors apply.</h1> Regulation 17A of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, limits the number of directorships a person can hold in listed entities. From April 1, 2019, a person can be a director in no more than eight listed entities, reducing to seven from April 1, 2020. An individual cannot serve as an independent director in more than seven listed entities. Those serving as whole-time or managing directors in any listed entity can be independent directors in no more than three listed entities. Directorships held ex-officio in public sector undertakings or public-private partnerships are excluded from this count.
