<h1>Shareholding Limits in Depositories Must Comply with SEBI Regulations 2018; Excess Holdings to Be Reduced Within Five Years.</h1> Under the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Depositories and Participants) Regulations, 2018, any person's shareholding or voting rights in a depository must not exceed the specified limits unless otherwise provided. When determining shareholding, any instruments granting voting rights or equity shares, directly or indirectly, are included. If a person holds equity or rights over equity exceeding the specified limits as of the regulations' commencement, these must be reduced to the permissible limit within five years or another period specified by the Board.
