<h1>Finance Bill 2018: President's Emoluments and Pension Act Amendments Increase Office Expenses and Emoluments Retroactively</h1> The Finance Bill, 2018 proposes amendments to the President's Emoluments and Pension Act, 1951. Section 2, sub-section (2), clause (b) will see an increase in office expenses from sixty thousand rupees to one lakh rupees per annum. Additionally, Section 1A proposes to raise the President's emoluments from one lakh fifty thousand rupees to five lakh rupees per month, effective retroactively from January 1, 2016. Section 3A suggests increasing the office expenses for the President's spouse from twelve thousand rupees to twenty thousand rupees annually.
