of <h1>Proposed Amendments to Companies Act: Changes to Section 161 on Alternate Directorship and Board Meeting Decisions</h1> The Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2017 proposes changes to section 161 of the principal Act. In sub-section (2), it adds that alternate directorship can include holding directorship in the same company. Sub-section (4) is amended by removing the phrase 'In the case of a public company,' and adding that board meeting decisions must be approved by members at the next general meeting.
