Certification mechanism enables appeal to final forum when a case is certified fit for review by the intermediate appellate body. An appeal lies to the Supreme Court from orders of the National or Regional Benches of the Appellate Tribunal and, where the High Court certifies a case as fit, from High Court judgments or orders in appeals under section 117. The appeal procedure follows, as far as practicable, the Code of Civil Procedure provisions applicable to appeals from High Court decrees, and where the Supreme Court varies or reverses a High Court judgment, effect is to be given as provided in section 117.
