<h1>Special Audit Ordered Under Punjab GST Act 2017 for Accuracy Concerns; Findings May Lead to Further Actions</h1> Under the Punjab Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, a special audit can be ordered by an officer of at least Assistant Commissioner rank if there are concerns about the accuracy of declared values or availed credits. With the Commissioner's approval, the registered person must have their records audited by a nominated chartered or cost accountant. The audit report is due within 90 days, extendable by another 90 days. Despite prior audits, this special audit's findings can be used in proceedings, with the registered person having a right to be heard. Audit expenses are finalized by the Commissioner. If discrepancies are found, actions under sections 73 or 74 may follow.
