Expert assistance: officers may obtain external expert help to address complex GST scrutiny, inquiry, or investigation matters. Section 153 of the Orissa GST Act authorises an officer not below the rank of Assistant Commissioner to obtain expert assistance where the nature or complexity of a case or the interest of revenue warrants it, and to do so at any stage of scrutiny, inquiry, investigation or other proceedings before the officer.
