Officer must approve GST registration within seven working days; physical verification extends process, deemed approval if officer fails timelines
An application for GST registration is examined by the proper officer who must approve it within seven working days if documents are in order. If the applicant fails Aadhaar authentication, is risk-flagged, or the officer with appropriate approval decides, physical verification and document checks are required and registration follows within thirty days after verification. If the application is deficient, the officer must issue an electronic notice within seven working days (or up to thirty days where physical verification is applicable), and the applicant has seven working days to respond. On satisfactory response, approval must follow within seven working days; otherwise the officer may reject with reasons. Failure by the officer to act within prescribed periods results in deemed approval.
