New Section 117A in Electricity Act: Appellate Tribunal roles now guided by Section 184 of Finance Act, 2017.
The amendment to the Electricity Act, 2003, introduces Section 117A, which specifies that the qualifications, appointment, term of office, salaries, allowances, resignation, removal, and other service conditions for the Chairperson and Members of the Appellate Tribunal, appointed after the commencement of Part XIV of Chapter VI of the Finance Act, 2017, will be governed by Section 184 of that Act. However, those appointed before this commencement will continue under the original provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003, and its rules, unaffected by the Finance Act, 2017.
