Customs Act Amendment: New Sub-Section 129(7) Aligns Tribunal Appointments with Finance Act 2017 Post-Commencement
In the Customs Act, 1962, an amendment has been made to section 129, introducing a new sub-section (7). This sub-section specifies that for appointments made after the commencement of Part XIV of Chapter VI of the Finance Act, 2017, the qualifications, appointment terms, and conditions of service for the President, Vice-President, and other Members of the Appellate Tribunal will be governed by section 184 of the Finance Act, 2017. However, those appointed before this commencement will continue under the existing provisions of the Customs Act, 1962.
