of <h1>Section 32E Amended: Non-Assessees Can Now Apply to Settlement Commission for Show Cause Notices</h1> In the Central Excise Act, section 32E is amended to include a new sub-section (5). This sub-section allows individuals other than the assessee to apply to the Settlement Commission regarding a show cause notice issued in connection with a case involving the assessee. This is applicable if the case has been settled or is pending before the Settlement Commission and the notice is also pending before an adjudicating authority. The application must be made in a prescribed manner and under specified conditions.
