Mediation and conciliation appointments allow party agreement or government/tribunal nomination and panel appointment with Form MDC-2 and fee.

Rule 6 permits parties to agree on a sole mediator or conciliator, while where parties cannot agree the Central Government, the Tribunal, or the Appellate Tribunal may require party nominations or make appointments. Applications for referral must be in Form MDC-2 with a fee of one thousand rupees; upon receipt the authority will appoint one or more experts from the Mediation and Conciliation Panel and may also refer matters suo motu if deemed in the parties' interest.
