<h1>India May Implement Temporary Safeguard Measures Under India-ASEAN Trade Agreement Rules 2016 for Up to 200 Days</h1> The Central Government of India, based on preliminary findings by the Director General, may implement provisional safeguard measures under the India-ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (Safeguard Measures) Rules, 2016. These measures include either suspending further reductions in customs duty rates or increasing the duty rate on specific goods. The increased rate cannot exceed the lesser of the Most Favoured Nation applied rate at the time of the measure or the rate immediately before the Trade Agreement's enforcement. Such measures are temporary and can remain in effect for no more than 200 days from their imposition.
