Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority membership rules require ex-officio nominees and four qualified expert members for appointments by Central Government
Rule 7 prescribes the composition of the Authority: the Central Government may appoint two ex-officio members nominated by the Reserve Bank of India and the Securities and Exchange Board of India, each at or above Executive Director rank, and four expert members. Expert members must have at least fifteen years specialised experience in finance, management, accountancy or law, one from each discipline, with professional knowledge deemed useful to the Authority. The operative effect is to vest appointment authority in the Central Government and to require both ex-officio representation and sectoral expert qualifications for membership.
