Regulation 5: Cargo Declarations Must Be Submitted Separately by Category, Special Rules for Specific Items Apply
The Import Manifest (Vessels) Regulations, 1971, Regulation 5, specifies the procedure for declaring cargo. Cargo declarations must be submitted on separate sheets for each category: cargo to be landed, unaccompanied baggage, goods for transshipment, and same bottom or retention cargo. For cargo to be landed and unaccompanied baggage, details must be listed by ports of loading. For same bottom cargo, only the nature and package number are required. Special provisions apply to arms, ammunition, explosives, narcotics, dangerous drugs, gold, and silver, which must be declared separately by ports of loading. If none of these items are carried, a nil declaration is required.
