Such orders must be published in the Official Gazette. The government can also require companies to produce records for verification. Non-compliance or providing false information can result in fines up to twenty-five thousand rupees for companies and imprisonment or fines for responsible officers. Foreign companies operating in India are also subject to these provisions concerning their business activities in the country.
