Reference update to Legal Metrology Act replaces prior weights and measures law in Central Excise Act, effective upon government notification. The amendment substitutes the reference in section 4A(1) of the Central Excise Act to the Standards of Weights and Measures Act with a reference to the Legal Metrology Act, and provides that this substitution shall have effect from a date to be appointed by the Central Government by notification in the Official Gazette.
