Application scrutiny powers permit verification of applicant identity and reputation before registration under customs regime is completed. The Principal Commissioner of Customs or Commissioner of Customs may scrutinise registration applications by making enquiries to verify the particulars supplied and to investigate the applicant's identity, bonafides and reputation, and may undertake any other enquiries deemed necessary to determine suitability for registration under the courier electronic declaration regime.
