of <h1>Wealth-tax threshold doubled to thirty lakh rupees per Section 83 of Finance (No. 2) Act, 2009, from April 2010.</h1> Section 83 of the Finance (No. 2) Act, 2009 amends Section 3 of the Wealth-tax Act, 1957. Effective from April 1, 2010, the amendment modifies the threshold for wealth-tax assessment. For every assessment year starting on or after this date, the wealth threshold for taxation is increased from fifteen lakh rupees to thirty lakh rupees.
