of <h1>Finance Bill 2009: Clause 76 Updates Section 282 of Income-tax Act, Expands Service Methods for Tax Communications</h1> Clause 76 of the Finance (No. 2) Bill, 2009 proposes to replace section 282 of the Income-tax Act, enhancing the methods for serving notices, summons, requisitions, orders, or communications. The new section allows service by post, approved courier, methods under the Code of Civil Procedure, electronic records as per the Information Technology Act, or other Board-approved transmission means. The Board may establish rules for addresses, including electronic mail, for delivering these communications. This amendment is effective from October 1, 2009.
