of <h1>Amendment to Section 80DD: Deduction Limit for Severe Disability Expenses Raised to 100,000 from April 2010 Onwards.</h1> Clause 31 of the Finance (No. 2) Bill, 2009 proposes an amendment to section 80DD of the Income-tax Act. This section pertains to deductions for expenses incurred on the medical treatment, training, and rehabilitation of a dependant with a disability. The amendment increases the deduction limit for a dependant with severe disability from seventy-five thousand rupees to one hundred thousand rupees. This change is effective from April 1, 2010, and applies to the assessment year 2010-2011 and onwards.
