Verification and control of origin may be applied to goods already cleared for home consumption under the Rules. Rule 34 permits proceedings for verification and control of the origin of goods under the Customs Tariff determination rules to be applied to goods already cleared for home consumption, authorising post-clearance origin checks and enforcement of origin requirements under the preferential trade framework.
