of <h1>India-Montenegro Tax Convention Enforced: Prevents Double Taxation on Income and Capital; Effective in India from April 2009.</h1> The Convention between the Government of India and the Council of Ministers of Serbia and Montenegro aims to prevent double taxation on income and capital taxes. Following Montenegro's independence in June 2006, the Convention now applies to Montenegro. It came into force on September 23, 2008, and is effective in India for fiscal years starting from April 1 of the year following its enforcement. The Convention applies to residents of the contracting states, as per Article 1, and is implemented under the relevant provisions of the Indian Income-tax Act and Wealth-Tax Act.
