Lay-off continuation permission requires a timely Form-XIV application from mine employers after fire, flood, gas, or explosion.

An employer of a mine must apply for permission to continue a lay-off where workers other than badli workers or casual workers have been laid off because of fire, flood, excess of inflammable gas, or explosion. The application must be made within thirty days from the commencement of the lay-off, in Form-XIV, and must be submitted electronically and by speed post to the Central Government with a copy to the concerned Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central).
