Designers and suppliers must ensure equipment and substances are safe, tested, and accompanied by adequate use and safety information.

Designers, manufacturers, importers and suppliers must, so far as reasonably practicable, ensure articles and substances used in establishments are safe and without risk to workers' health when properly used by designing, constructing, testing and providing adequate information and safe-use conditions. Importers must ensure foreign articles conform to Indian standards or higher foreign national standards, and, absent Indian standards, to the exporter country's national standard. Duties extend only to matters within the person's business and control, and reliance on reasonable testing by others is permitted.
