Obstruction of workplace safety inspectors, refusal of entry or document production carries imprisonment and fines, increased on repeat offence.

Wilful prevention or obstruction of authorised inspectors or experts in exercising duties or powers, refusal of entry, failure to produce required documents, or non compliance with requisitions or orders under the Code is punishable with up to three months' imprisonment, or a fine up to one lakh rupees, or both; a subsequent conviction under the same provision increases punishment to up to six months' imprisonment and a fine of not less than one lakh rupees and up to two lakh rupees, or both.
