Period of operation for settlements and awards sets default durations, termination by majority notice, and government modification powers.

Settlements take effect on the agreed date or upon signing and are binding for the agreed period or, if none, six months from signing and remain binding until sixty days after a valid termination notice by a majority. Awards operate for one year from enforceability but the appropriate Government may reduce or extend this period in one-year increments up to a three-year maximum; it may refer awards to the Tribunal for shortening where material change occurs. Awards imposing no continuing obligations are excluded. Awards remain binding until sixty days after a valid termination notice.
