When an accused is charged with an offence comprising several particulars, conviction for a minor offence is permitted if the proved particulars constitute that minor offence; facts that reduce a charge permit conviction for the lesser offence; and conviction for an attempt is permitted though not separately charged, provided the procedural conditions for initiating proceedings for the minor offence have been satisfied.
