Joinder of charges permits trying multiple connected offences together to streamline prosecution and avoid multiplicative trials.

Section 243 permits joinder of charges so that when a person commits more than one offence in a series of acts forming the same transaction, they may be charged with and tried at one trial for every such offence. The section further allows joinder where offences of breach of trust or misappropriation are accompanied by falsification of accounts to facilitate or conceal them, where acts fall within multiple statutory offence definitions, and where combined acts create a distinct offence while also constituting individual offences. Illustrations exemplify these applications and sub-section (5) preserves section 9.
