Assault on public servant punishable by imprisonment or fine when dispersing unlawful assemblies or suppressing riots.

The provision creates two tiers of offence tied to conduct against public servants engaged in dispersing unlawful assemblies or suppressing riots or affrays: (1) actual assault, obstruction, or use of criminal force against such public servants, punishable by imprisonment of either description and a prescribed minimum fine; and (2) threats or attempts to assault, obstruct, or use criminal force against such public servants, punishable by a shorter term of imprisonment or fine.
