Preventing service of summons: offence with tiered penalties for obstructing official process and court attendance or production.

Intentional obstruction of delivery, lawful affixing, removal or proclamation of any summons, notice, order or proclamation issued by a public servant legally competent to do so is an offence. A two-tier penalty regime applies: general obstruction carries simple imprisonment up to one month or a fine up to five thousand rupees or both; obstruction where attendance or production in court is required carries simple imprisonment up to six months or a fine up to ten thousand rupees or both.
