Power to supersede authority allows central government to replace and vest authority functions pending reconstitution.

The Central Government may, for specified reasons and after giving the Authority an opportunity to make representations, supersede the Authority for a limited period; upon supersession the Chairperson and Members vacate office, the Central Government directs persons to exercise all statutory powers, functions and duties and all Authority properties vest in the Central Government until reconstitution; the Authority must be reconstituted by fresh appointments and the Government must lay the notification and a full report before each House of Parliament.
