Non compliance with rules of origin triggers duties and civil, administrative and, where appropriate, criminal sanctions.

Where verification under rule 26 establishes non compliance with the rules of origin, duties shall be levied in accordance with the importing Party's laws; each Party must adopt or maintain measures providing for civil, administrative and, where appropriate, criminal sanctions for violations of customs laws governing rules of origin and entitlement to preferential tariff treatment.
