Designation of Central Authority allows government to vest another statutory body with consumer protection powers and functions.

The Central Government may, if it considers necessary, by notification designate any statutory authority or body to exercise the powers and perform the functions of the Central Authority referred to in section 10; this is a discretionary administrative designation effected through notification permitting an existing statutory entity to undertake the Central Authority's investigative, enforcement and related consumer protection functions.
