Acceptance of gifts by employees is prohibited where solicitation or receipt is from persons with whom the employee is likely to have official dealings or from subordinate employees; trivial social or ceremonial items and ordinary social hospitality are exempted. The term gift includes free transport, boarding, lodging, other services, or any pecuniary advantage unless provided by a near relative or a personal friend with no official dealings. Gifts from personal friends on customary occasions may be accepted but must be reported to the Board within thirty days if exceeding a specified value.
