Term of office of adjudicating authority members under benami law was limited and later omitted from the statute.

Section 12 of the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988 was omitted with effect from 1-7-2021. Before omission, it governed the term of office of the Chairperson and Members of the Adjudicating Authority, limiting tenure to five years from the date of entering office or until the age of sixty-two years, whichever was earlier, and barred re-appointment.
