Information-gathering powers under benami law require officers and record-keepers to furnish relevant transaction data.

Power is conferred on the Initiating Officer, the Approving Authority and the Adjudicating Authority to require government officers, local bodies, and other persons maintaining records of property transactions to furnish information useful or relevant for the purposes of the Act. Every such officer or person must supply the requested information to any authority under the Act in the prescribed form and manner, making the provision an information-gathering mechanism supporting administration of the benami property framework.
