Determination of origin may extend to goods already cleared, enabling release of guarantees and refunds under domestic law.

Verification and control procedures concerning the determination of origin under the India-Chile preferential trade rules may be applied retrospectively to goods already cleared for home consumption; previously, where an origin investigation concluded in the importer's favour the importer would be relieved of guarantees and promptly refunded duties paid in excess in accordance with domestic law.
