Textile tariff reclassification updates excise schedule entries and applies an 8% duty to revised fabric categories.

Amendment of the First Schedule to the Additional Duties of Excise (Goods of Special Importance) Act removes specified textile tariff items and substitutes revised entries for certain headings relating to woven fabrics, gauze and other textile goods. The substituted entries consolidate and renumber tariff classifications while prescribing an 8% rate of duty for the revised goods descriptions, including shirting fabrics, canvas, flannelette, sarees, crepe fabrics, twill fabrics, other woven fabrics and gauze of cotton and other textile materials.
