Threatening to induce false evidence is criminal; such threats attract penal liability and mirrored sentences if they cause wrongful convictions.

Threatening another with injury to person, reputation or property to induce false testimony is a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment up to seven years, fine, or both. If the false evidence causes an innocent person to be convicted and sentenced to death or to imprisonment for more than seven years, the threatener is punishable with the same sentence imposed on that innocent person.
