Section 106 penalises causing death by a rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide with imprisonment and fine, prescribes a reduced statutory term where the act is committed by a registered medical practitioner during a medical procedure and defines that practitioner by recognised qualification and registration; it separately penalises causing death by rash and negligent driving combined with escape without reporting to authorities (hit-and-run) with a higher penal term and fine.
